1st European Women Hot Air Balloon Championships 2010 are over

Dear All,

The 1st European Women Hot Air Balloon Championships 2010 are over. It is
the first FAI Continental Championships in the newly formed feminine 
category. The competition was successful and the competitors enjoyed it
very much. As one of the women put it when asked, do you think it is good
to have a feminine category event?  She said: "It is an opportunity to
enjoy competition flying yourself, as opposed to always crewing for
husbands or fathers". 27 pilots competed and five of possible six flights
were flown in good weather with a total of 15 tasks.

The top three winners are:
1. Gabriela Slavec, Slovenia.
2. Lindsay Muir, Great Britain.
3. Jolanta MATEJCZUK, Poland.

There were no complaints or protests and the results have been approved and
signed by the Jury.
